Unaccompanied Athletes

For any athletes that may be travelling unaccompanied with SOWM we will need the full details for a parent, carer or guardian that must be available to fly to Pila (or the relevant location) at short notice (i.e. within 24 hours) if required.

SOWM may require a parent, carer or guardian to fly out and meet us in the event of;

• An injury
• Behavioural issues

If medical treatment is sought many airlines typically require 24 to 48 hours to pass post treatment before they permit someone to fly; this may mean that an athlete could end up missing the return flight. SOWM would not leave an athlete unaccompanied in the destination country if they could not depart due to injury - a volunteer would stay behind. The costs of this may not be covered by the travel insurance of either party.
