Prescription Medication
Anyone that requires medication must:
- Bring enough to provide some buffer room for unforeseen circumstances
- Bring the medication in the original packaging
For trips abroad, which are usually a week in duration, ensure there is 10 days worth of medication. For weekend trips in the UK ensure there is at least 4 days worth of mediation.
Warning
Do not pack prescription medication in checked-in luggage.
Ensure that your medical forms on Athlete Manager are up to date and reflect the medication that is required.
For Athletes
As well as the medication being in the original packaging, there must also be clear instructions on dosage.
Medication for unaccompanied skiers must be passed to the designated volunteer at the airport before departure.
Over The Counter Medication
Over the counter medication, like Ibuprofen and Paracetamol, should be bought by the individual if it is needed. The group will have a limited supply if required.
It is down to the individual to decide if over the counter mediation should be packed in checked in luggage or in hand luggage. Consider if you or your athlete would be okay without it if any luggage didn’t make it to the destination.
For Athletes
For unaccompanied skiers Ibuprofen and Paracetamol, as well as any products containing it, should be passed to the volunteer responsible for their room once they they have arrived at the hotel. This should not be passed to the volunteer in the airport.
The athlete can request the painkillers if required and the volunteer will ensure a suitable duration is left between doses.
The athlete should not hand cough sweets (i.e. Strepsils), plasters, petroleum jelly (i.e. Vaseline) to the volunteer responsible for their room.
